Iris Estévez Blanco is an associate professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Department of Pedagogy and Didactics, specialising in Didactics and School Organisation. She holds a PhD from the University of A Coruña (UDC), having obtained the highest grade of "Outstanding Cum Laude," with international mention and an extraordinary doctoral award. She is a member of the ESCULCA (Knowledge and Educational Action) research group at USC and collaborates with the GIPED group at UDC, in addition to participating in teaching innovation groups such as PAIDEIA-USC and GIPEDINNOVA-UDC.
Her research focuses on teacher professional development and teacher training at different educational levels, with a special emphasis on the processes of motivation, learning, socialisation, and teacher identity construction within the paradigm of learning ecologies. She has also investigated the cognitive, emotional, and behavioural variables involved in homework assignments, as well as the role of teachers and the involvement of families in this process. In recent years, she has incorporated new thematic areas, such as gender perspective, sexual violence (both online and offline), the use and abuse of technologies, and the educational inclusion of students with special educational needs.
She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific papers published in journals indexed in relevant international databases, as well as books, book chapters, and papers at prestigious national and international conferences in the field of Pedagogy and Didactics.
She has completed international research internships, including at Kennesaw State University (United States) and the University of Minho (Portugal), and is currently a teaching intern at FPCEUP (Portugal).
