On 25 May, Hélder Ferraz, a researcher at CIIE, was in Madeira at the invitation of the Madeira Regional Directorate for Education and the University of Madeira, where he delivered the opening keynote at the 1st Education Sciences Conference.

Under the theme “Education Sciences: an identity under construction and/or a professional field in dispute?”, the presentation drew on data from the Infocursos portal and on the contributions of leading figures in the field of Education Sciences, such as Stephen Stoer and Luiza Cortesão. This enabled an in-depth reflection on the current challenges facing the field and the relevance of its role in recognising socio-economic and territorial inequalities.

During this visit, the researcher was also interviewed by RTP Madeira, where he shared perspectives on the field of Education Sciences and its social impact.
