FPCEUP/CIIE is a partner in a new Horizon Europe project consortium | ACHIEVE4EDU

A research team from the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE/FPCEUP) of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto is participating as a partner in a new project funded under the Horizon Europe framework. At CIIE, Daniela Ferreira (leading), Rui Trindade and Sofia Almeida Santos will take part in the project "Advancing the Use of Scientific Evidence of Social Impact in Education Policy and Practice to Improve Student Achievement” (ACHIEVE4EDU), which is currently in the preparation phase of the Grant Agreement following its successful evaluation under the call HORIZON-CL2-2025-01-TRANSFO-06, which focuses on the evaluation and use of evidence in education policy and practice.

ACHIEVE4EDU, coordinated by the University of Barcelona, is scheduled to commence in September. It aims to strengthen the effective use of Scientific Evidence of Social Impact (SESI) in education policy and practice, with a particular focus on improving student achievement in reading, mathematics and science during the transition from primary to secondary education. Rather than introducing a new concept, SESI reorients the traditional evidence-based education paradigm towards demonstrable and replicable social impact, aligned with current European priorities.

Bringing together a consortium of key European institutions, ACHIEVE4EDU is expected to contribute to the objectives of the European Education Area, particularly the reduction of low achievement among 15-year-olds.

The CIIE/FPCEUP team will contribute to WP1 (Identification and Analysis of SESI (Scientific Evidence of Social Impact) in Education Policy and Practice), WP3 (Co-creation of Dialogic Training for Policymakers and Practitioners), and WP5 (Policy Transfer of SESI and Dissemination.
