The project we are taking as our starting point, ‘De Par em Par’, which has been running at the University of Porto since 2009, set out to break with the solitary tradition of teaching in higher education and promote collaborative practices that would constitute a model of pedagogical training. However, its innovative character does not lie in bringing other teachers into the classroom (in what has come to be called the secret garden of the curriculum), but in opening the same door to the gaze of other teachers from other disciplinary areas, with other epistemic cultures. This contributes to establishing links between teachers from different Organisational Units and to the necessary recognition of the otherness that can produce future collaborations.
The project being submitted to the Didactic Innovation in Portuguese Higher Education competition aims to contribute to the discussion of the results of " de Par em Par" in broader arenas of the academic community and to contribute to the recognition of the multidisciplinary peer observation model as a teacher training practice in higher education.
