EERA Network 34 – Research on Citizenship Education Season School

The EERA Network 34 Research on Citizenship Education Season School is an intensive academic programme for PhD candidates whose field research focuses on citizenship education in formal, non-formal or informal educational contexts. In line with EERA Summer School guidelines, the school is primarily intended for early-stage and mid-stage PhD candidates.

Applications will be evaluated by the academic committee based on:

  • Scientific quality and clarity of the PhD project
  • Relevance to field research on citizenship education, in the context of formal, non-formal or informal education
  • Added value of the Season School for the applicant’s doctoral development


Required information

  • Short CV (maximum 200 words)
  • Motivation statement (maximum 200 words, motivation for participating in the Season School and the relevance for your PhD trajectory)


Required uploads

  • Letter of recommendation from supervisor(s) (signed letter from the PhD supervisor(s) confirming the applicant’s PhD status, and the supervisor’s endorsement of participation in the Season School, format PDF)
  • Extended abstract (extended abstract of your PhD project of max. 1000 words (excluding references). The abstract must be written in English and include the following elements, format PDF:
    • Title
    • Three keywords
    • Research objectives and research questions
    • Conceptual framework
    • Methodology of the field research
    • Preliminary or expected findings
    • References)

Note that applications that do not meet these formal and substantive requirements will not be considered for selection.


Important Information

Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance. Due to the interactive and intensive nature of the Season School, the number of participants is limited. Applicants with the highest evaluation scores will be given priority for admission.

Fees
High GDP Student fee: 150€
Low GDP Student fee: 50€
(fees include accommodation, lunches, coffee-breaks, social dinner and political tour)
