GENERAL REMARKS
A communication officer is a new professional role to be introduced into the SIRIUS network. The need of this professional role comes up from several discussions with the collaborative partners along this year. SIRIUS is an ambitious network that effectively wishes to transform the policy implementation on migration and education through the EU. A powerful communication strategy is required to achieve that.
PROFILE
A communication officer should consider the following requirements:
- An experienced profile, a professional that is used to dealing with communication issues at a European scale.
- Placed in Brussels, as it is where most of the European and international organizations devoted to education and/or migration are based
- Integrated within a SIRIUS organization, as the network does not count on resources for headquarters nor for operational management in Brussels
- A future member of the steering committee, as it is the team where the communication officer can get access to all the relevant information related to the network , an explore ways for dissemination
- Plays a complementary role for the development of a communication strategy
TASKS
The specific tasks for a communication officer are:
- To coordinate the SIRIUS general communication strategy, discussed and approved by the SIRIUS partners
- To contact with institutions or networks potentially interested in sharing knowledge and actions with SIRIUS
- To identify academic, political or social events where SIRIUS could participate and be introduced
- To organize social presentations about SIRIUS at an international level
- To design and run a strategy for the dissemination of SIRIUS products
- To design some specific tools (flyers; clips, etc.) for the dissemination of SIRIUS
- To represent SIRIUS in some academic, political or social events
- To make some SIRIUS presentations near some public or private institutions in order to get funds for SIRIUS activities
- To regularly feed-back to the Sirius partners’ information about relevant policy developments at the EU level.
SELECTION PROCESS

The SIRIUS steering committee, a representative for MPG and a representative for OSI will constitute a selection committee that will base its decision on the following criteria:
- transparency
- professional competence
- availability
- motivation
- knowledge of SIRIUS works
The final decision will be taken on 10 December 2012 and it will appear at the SIRIUS website. In case of average between two finalists, an interview could be requested by the selection committee.
JOB CONDITIONS
Status: contracted
Hours: 2 days per week
Annual payment: 36.000 (taxes included)
Start: immediate (1 December 2012)
Place: MPG premises, Brussels
Contract period: until December 31, 2013, with a possibility to extend to 2014.
