Thiago is a FCT-funded Researcher Fellow at the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE ¿ University of Porto), under a CEEC grant (https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.06800.CEECIND/CP1757/CT0001). He earned his PhD in Education Sciences from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) with a thesis focused on youth schooling trajectories developed in peripheral contexts. His main research interests relate to educational trajectories of students from disadvantaged contexts, school pedagogies and innovation (including teacher training), family impact on education, youth cultures, and diversity in and internationalisation of higher education. He holds a master's in education sciences (FPCEUP) and a degree in Languages (Portuguese/English) (University of São Paulo - USP). He has actively participated in inter/national projects in the field of education in the last ten years, having authored and co-authored several scientific papers and book chapters on topics such as educational trajectories, family ties with education, narrative methodology, pedagogical innovation and higher education policies. Currently, he is leading a project focused on the trajectories of displaced and low-SES higher education students. Thiago is also a member of a Cost Action centred on the grassroots of digital Europe (CA21141), integrates a national funded project on self-regulated learning (2022.01025.PTDC) and an international research team working on the internationalisation of teacher education (2021-1-PL01-KA220-HED-000031129). He has been an ad hoc reviewer of several high-impact international journals in education (Scopus indexed) since 2019. Thiago is a lecturer at FPCEUP, where he has taught at all levels of tertiary education, including elective and compulsory courses. In the past, he acted as evaluator (panel student member) of higher education courses for the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).
