Launch of Esteios Celebrates Key Figures in the Democratization of Education in Portugal
The CIIE and U.Porto Press will present Esteios on March 31, at 5:30 p.m., in the Casa Comum Auditorium at the Rectory of the University of Porto.
Esteios is a tribute volume dedicated to men and women who played a significant role in shaping a more democratic and inclusive educational system in Portugal after the April 25 Revolution.
Published jointly by U.Porto Press and the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), the book was organised by Rui Trindade and Amélia Lopes, faculty members and researchers at FPCEUP/CIIE, along with researchers Daniela Ferreira and Daniela Pinto from CIIE.
The initiative is linked to the Observatory of Life in Schools (OBVIE), coordinated by CIIE, with which the organisers are actively involved.
The launch event will include presentations by Manuel Matos (retired FPCEUP professor), José Carlos Paiva (emeritus professor at FBAUP), and Rui Trindade (FPCEUP professor and book co-editor).
Featuring 82 biographies, Esteios pays homage to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the evolution of Portugal’s educational landscape, promoting values of equity, participation, and democratic citizenship over the past five decades.
Admission is free.
Esteios is available in the U.Porto Press online store, with a 10% discount and free shipping.
