On November 3rd, at 6 PM, in room 120, we have a scheduled meeting with Professor Luiza Cortesão as part of the CoPin PIV/CIIE Debate Series.

The session will begin with the presentation of the project “Utopias of Education in the First Republic: What Contributions from Children's and Youth Literature (1910-1926)”, recently completed and supported by CIIE through FCT funding. In addition to the project presentation, a debate will be held among the participants.

Luiza Cortesão is Professor Emerita of the University of Porto and Retired Full Professor of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the same university. Founder and President of the Paulo Freire Institute in Portugal, she also coordinates the Paulo Freire Resource Centre at the University of Porto. A researcher at CIIE, she has developed projects in the areas of cultural diversity, intercultural education, citizenship, and pedagogical innovation. She is the author of several books and scientific articles and has collaborated with international organisations such as UNESCO and the OECD, working in Portuguese-speaking African countries. In recognition of her contribution to education and science, she received the Order of Public Instruction (2002) and the Medal of Scientific Merit (2022).
