CIIE takes part in XXXII International Colloquium of AFIRSE Portugal

On 5, 6 and 7 February, researchers from CIIE/FPCEUP, as doctoral fellows or collaborating researchers, took part in the XXXII International Colloquium of AFIRSE Portugal, entitled ‘Education, Participation and Democracy - Research Contributions’, held at the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon.

Mariana Bacelar, PhD scholar, with the paper ‘Education for Citizenship in the School Context on the 50th Anniversary of 25 April’.

Maria de Fátima Ginicolo, PhD student, with the paper ‘Migrations, integration policies and the challenges of educating newly arrived migrant pupils’.

Ricardo Soares, PhD scholar, with the paper ‘Can education be one of the master keys so that the doors that April opened don't close? The role of schooling and educational experiences in building democracy’.

Maria Luís van Zeller, PhD student, with the paper ‘Host language vs. sense of belonging: the integration and inclusion of adult migrants and refugees in Portugal’.

Amanda Moraes, Joana Mesquita, Maria Jesus, PhD students, and Mariana Fonseca, collaborating researcher, with the symposium ‘Contributions to the politicised construction of objects of study in Educational Sciences’.

The Association Francophone Internationale de Recherche Scientifique en Education (AFIRSE) is a scientific organisation based in France with sections in different countries, including Portugal which aims at the development of scientific research in education and the dissemination and utilisation of the results of that research, with a view to improving the conditions of education and all educational activities and practices.
