On February 10, the first edition of the ICE - Internationalisation in School Context: Enhancing Diversity and Internationalisation in Teacher Education continuous training unit ended. The training, developed within the framework of the DITE - Diverse Internationalisation of Teacher Education project (2021-1-PL01-KA220-HED-000031129), is geared towards promoting the dimensions of inclusion and internationalisation in initial teacher training, with the aim of providing trainees with the ability to work from international positions and oriented towards welcoming diversity.
The aim of the sessions held between January and February was to train students in the challenge of diversity and the need for intercultural communication, by promoting a better understanding of the global interconnectedness of the main challenges affecting today's societies.
This pioneering initiative, organised in partnership with FPCEUP's Continuing Education Service, brought together 30 master's degree students in teaching from all of the University of Porto's departments where teachers are trained, namely the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (FPCEUP), the Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUP), the Faculty of Sciences (FCUP), the Faculty of Sport (FADEUP) and the Faculty of Arts (FLUP). The team of trainers, which included Henrique Vaz and Thiago Freires, CIIE/FPCEUP integrated members, also included teachers from the different organisational units involved in teacher training: Clara Vasconcelos (FCUP), Maria João Couto (FLUP), Paula Queirós (FADEUP), Paula Silva (FADEUP), Rosa Tomás Ferreira (FCUP) and Sónia Rodrigues (FLUP).
The DITE project is coordinated by the University of Szczecin (Poland) and the consortium is made up of five other institutions: Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland), Rovira i Virgili University (Spain), University of Porto (Portugal), Global Impact Institute (Czechia) and SGroup - Universities in Europe. Fátima Pereira (CIIE/FPCEUP) is the national coordinator of DITE.
