The latest issue of the journal Learning and Teaching: The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences, edited by Amélia Veiga, a researcher at CIIE, and Tim Seidenschnur, from the University of Kassel, Germany, is now available. This issue, the 3rd of the 2025 volume (vol. 18), focuses on the "Effects of the pandemic crisis on European higher education".
“What this special issue ultimately offers is a nuanced understanding of the dual character of the pandemic's impact: as both a disruptor that amplified existing vulnerabilities and as a moment of possibility that can inspire transformative futures. It demonstrates that rethinking higher education in the post-pandemic era requires acknowledging the interplay between pre-existing conditions and emergent practices and recognising the agency of diverse stakeholders in shaping institutional trajectories. Taken together, the contributions chart a path for universities to move beyond short-term crisis management toward long-term strategies that balance academic values with social responsibility, ensuring that higher education remains a vital force in navigating an uncertain future.” (Veiga & Seidenschnur, 2025, p. 4)
