Note of condolence on the death of Professor Joaquim Luís Coimbra, a CIIE researcher

The Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) would like to publicly express its sorrow at the death of Professor Joaquim Luís Coimbra and express its solidarity with all his family and friends at this time of loss.
Professor Joaquim Luís Coimbra was an integrated researcher at the CIIE, where he participated as a researcher and consultant in multiple national and international projects in the fields of adult education, training and labour and the civic and political participation of young people and adults. For more than three decades, Professor Joaquim Coimbra has been actively involved in management bodies at FPCE and the University of Porto. He has worked invaluably as a lecturer on undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes in Education Sciences and is currently Director of the Master in Adult Education and Training.
Professor Joaquim Luís Coimbra is an unavoidable reference of the greatest magnitude in the training of several generations of researchers and professionals in the fields of Education Sciences and Psychology for his exceptional scientific and humanist culture, critical spirit, intellectual generosity and affability in relationships. His work, reflection and academic and ethical stance constitute an important legacy on the role of the University, scientific knowledge and education/training processes in building fairer societies that will remain as references for our research and intervention work in the field of education.
