FLAD Competition - Luso-American Development Foundation
Support for institutional projects
Support for projects by Portuguese scientific or similar institutions that contribute to the knowledge and development of transatlantic relations, namely:
- Studies on public policies, preferably carried out in cooperation with North American scientific institutions;
- Deepening knowledge of Portuguese communities in the USA;
- Initiatives that contribute to the dissemination of Portuguese language and culture in the US;
- Promoting scientific conferences, seminars and workshops, preferably in partnership with US institutions.
The projects should bring Portuguese and US institutions closer together to increase the knowledge network between the two countries, facilitating the development of institutional partnerships.
Projects with other sources of funding will be favoured.
FLAD support
Up to four projects will be supported annually, two in each semester.
Each project will be funded up to a maximum of €20,000.00.
Applicants will submit their applications by the following requirements.
- They must be Portuguese institutions;
- Describe the terms of reference of the study, if applicable;
- Present the programme of the proposed initiative, if applicable;
- Attach the budget, itemising costs and funding sources.

Applications must be submitted on the form available through the online application system.
Deadlines for submitting applications
Projects starting between 1 January and 30 June:
- Applications until 30 October of the previous year
In the call for proposals for the first half of 2013, applications will exceptionally be accepted until 30 November 2012.
- Results by 31 December of the previous year
Projects starting between 1 July and 31 December:
- Applications by 30 April of the same year
- Results by 30 June of the same year
