The winners of the 2024 edition of the ‘InovPed Seal’ competition have been announced, an initiative of the University of Porto's Educational Innovation Unit that aims to distinguish training units in the area of Continuing Education at the University of Porto that present themselves as pedagogically innovative. The ‘ICE - Internationalisation in the School Context: Boosting Diversity and Internationalisation in Teacher Education’ training course, developed as part of the DITE - Diverse Internationalisation of Teacher Education project (2021-1-PL01-KA220-HED-000031129) and integrated into the FPCEUP's Continuing Education Service (SEC), is one of the six winning applications.
The pioneering action, aimed at promoting the dimensions of inclusion and internationalisation in initial teacher training, brought together 30 master's degree students in teaching from all the organic units of the University of Porto where teachers are trained, namely the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPCEUP), the Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUP), the Faculty of Sciences (FCUP), the Faculty of Sport (FADEUP) and the Faculty of Arts (FLUP).
The team of trainers, including Henrique Vaz and Thiago Freires, integrated members of CIIE-FPCEUP, also included teachers from the different organisational units involved in teacher training: Clara Vasconcelos (FCUP), Maria João Couto (FLUP), Paula Queirós (FADEUP), Paula Silva (FADEUP), Rosa Tomás Ferreira (FCUP) and Sónia Rodrigues (FLUP).
The DITE Project is coordinated by the University of Szczecin (Poland) and the consortium is made up of five other institutions: Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland), Rovira i Virgili University (Spain), University of Porto (Portugal), Global Impact Institute (Czechia) and SGroup - Universities in Europe. The national coordination of DITE is the responsibility of Professor Fátima Pereira, an integrated member of CIIE-FPCEUP.
As part of DITE's activities, the Internationalisation and Diversity in Initial Teacher Education Seminar will be held on 22 June 2024 in Auditorium 1 of FPCEUP. The event will bring together students from master's programmes in teaching, including participants in ICE training, as well as teacher trainers and cooperating teachers. The seminar will also feature a talk by Professor Assunção Flores (University of Minho). Participation is free but subject to prior registration HERE.
