FPCEUP and CIIE receive delegation from the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (Brazil) to exchange experiences on Second Chance Schools
The Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) played a central role in welcoming a delegation from the Board of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC), Brazil, on May 28th..
The visit, organised as part of the National Network of Second Chance Education Initiatives (Rede E2O Portugal) - of which FPCEUP is an active member - had as its main objective the exchange of knowledge and practices around the Portuguese model of Second Chance Schools. The IFSC, a Brazilian public institution for professional, scientific and technological education, is seeking to adapt this model to the state of Santa Catarina, where the levels of early school leaving are still worrying.
The CIIE, represented by José Pedro Amorim, took an active part in the institutional welcome and in the moment of joint reflection, alongside Pedro Nobre (Director of FPCEUP), Amélia Veiga (Deputy Director of FPCEUP), and João Caramelo (Department of Educational Sciences), with Luíz Mesquita representing the E2O Portugal Network..
The initiative included a debate on training in Education Sciences and the challenges of the world of work, promoting the sharing of experiences between Portuguese and Brazilian institutions and reinforcing CIIE's role as a space for international mediation, knowledge transfer and scientific cooperation in the field of inclusive education.
This moment reinforces CIIE's relevance as a driving force behind innovative and socially committed educational policies, in a constructive dialogue between academia, educational networks and public policies..
