FPCEUP strengthens young people’s digital future at an international bootcamp in Vilnius
Between 14 and 17 May 2026, the city of Vilnius, Lithuania, hosted the third bootcamp of the research project BootStRaP – “Boosting Societal Adaptation and Mental Health in a Rapidly Digitalising Post-Pandemic Europe”. Under the theme “Youth Bootcamp – Co-designing actions for a safe and healthier digital future”, the initiative focused on the joint design of solutions to promote young people’s mental health and well-being in an increasingly digitalised world.
FPCEUP’s representation reflected the project’s strong interdisciplinary nature, involving close collaboration between its two research centres: the Centre for Psychology at the University of Porto (CPUP) and the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE).
Over four intensive days, researchers, teachers and students from different European countries took part in co-creation workshops focused on the development of digital tools for mental health; critical analysis of digital mental health platforms; translating scientific findings into feasible public policies; and fundamental rights and navigation in “onlife” society.
The initiative also included participation in an International Conference at the Lithuanian Parliament, where strategies for moving from research to political action were discussed.
Portugal was represented by a diverse team led by researchers Célia Sales and Carolina Cordeiro (CPUP) and Teresa Dias (CIIE). The delegation also benefited from the key contribution of the BootStRaP Ambassadors:
- Escola Secundária da Maia: Afonso Pereira (student) and Prof. Isaura Magalhães
- Escola Secundária de Águas Santas: Prof. Ana Andrade
- Escola Secundária Dr. Joaquim Ferreira Alves: Ana Sofia Freitas (student) and Prof. Maria José Sá
