The ‘ECOAR’ project is aimed at young people who are serving sentences deprived of their liberty, either in educational centres or prisons.
The priority criteria for selecting participants are:
Young people who are six months into their sentence, from unfavourable socio-economic backgrounds, with negative experiences in formal education, who have low levels of schooling and/or difficulty in finding a job.
The project is inspired by the experience of the PEETA Project (Personal Effectiveness and Employability through the Arts) developed at the Santa Cruz do Bispo Special Prison in 2012 and based on a methodology for assessing and certifying soft skills aimed at employability through artistic tools. Through an assessment structured on observation, evidence gathering, individual and collective feedback, self- and hetero-assessment, the dynamics and process of artistic creation are transformed into an instrument of empowerment, as they can be converted into Learning Objectives geared towards transversal employability skills: Effective Communication, Interpersonal Relationships, Task Management and Learning and Reflection.
