This is a ‘complex, comprehensive and well-designed study on sexualities and teenage pregnancy conceptualised in the light of sexual and intimate citizenship’ (FCT), based on sociologically ‘elucidative’ and polycentric work carried out in urban, rural, transitional or more isolated contexts, involving multiple social and cultural environments.
The work makes contributions to re-examining conceptions, re-evaluating the persistence of motherhood/paternity among adolescents, rethinking modes of education, promoting sexual health and well-being, at a time when various polyphonies, problems and subjects are acquiring new visibilities and claiming space. These clamours and changes have important repercussions in the field of education and require new perspectives and solutions, specifically in terms of sex education policies and practices, equal opportunities, the social responsibility of institutions and the development of gender, sexual and intimate citizenship for young people.
