The Audit Manuals were produced within the project ESSA Project – European Students Sustainability Auditing (2016-2019 | 2016-1-UK01-KA203-024648). The culmination of this project’s auditor training programme is the completion of a five-day audit of a Higher Education Institution. The audit manual was envisaged as a practical tool to support the delivery of the audit. Whilst originally planned as one document, three components of the manual have been produced. Each component is targeted at a particular role following the audit model adopted during the funded project where teams of student auditors travelled to deliver an audit at an HEI other than their own:
- visiting student auditors;
- students playing a host role at the university being audited;
- Higher Education Institutions being audited;

Components include:
- A manual for visiting student auditors;
- A manual for host students;
- A manual for HEIs hosting an audit;
- Reporting and presentation templates for student auditors;
- Evidence map for collation of documentary and other evidence.
