I am Laleh Esteki. I hold a BA degree in Teaching English and started working as an English teacher right after graduation. I did my Masters in Communication Sciences: Culture, Heritage, and Science at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Porto. I defended my dissertation on 25th July 2017. The subject was «Intercultural Communication: International students' expectations, anxiety, and their socio-cultural adaptation». I did mixed-method research: quantitative and qualitative. I used SPSS and NVivo software to analyze the collected data. I started collaborating on the EUniverCities project in ICOM - Image and Communication department- at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2018. Following this, I began collaborating as a consultant at iPoint (Intercultural Contact Point) at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP) in 2018. I have experienced working on organizing social and cultural activities for international students, promoting the integration of international doctoral students, providing the necessary information to international students, and consulting them to figure out their problems. I collaborated on the SOLVINC project-Solving Intercultural Conflicts with International Students- in 2020. I accomplished desk research (e.g., analysis of existing reports, brochures, and webpages), collected information to fill in the templates, and did interviews. I have taken some courses from 2018 to 2020 e.g., Social Action, Human Resources Professional Training, Hotel business and reception: Management and reservation techniques, English language - reservation service and support, Reception and check-in of customers, carrying out customer checkout. I collaborated as an interpreter on a project "The International Marketing Expedition" with a group of Dutch students of Tilburg University in Porto, Portugal in 2021. I collaborated with an investigator at the faculty of Psychology and Educational Science and a lecturer in International and Comparative Education at the Manchester Institute of Education (MIE) on an article "They Just Signed and Stamped Papers" Understanding the Erasmus Student Experiences. We could publish the article successfully in 2022. Currently, I am working on a project with Casa da Criança de Guimares. This project aims to facilitate the integration of Afghan refugee students by improving their knowledge about a new culture and helping them not to be alone in their struggles for social and academic integration, to learn to communicate interculturally and figure out their sociocultural difficulties. I work as a consultant, teacher, and translator in the project. I also collaborate with High Commission for Immigrants (ACM) as a translator/interpreter.
