Workshop + Debate | An Essential Guide to Artificial Intelligence for Teachers

On 17 December, from 14:30 to 18:30, the Laboratory for Digital Experimentation and Research in Education (LabDERE) of the Centre for Education and Educational Intervention (CIIE) of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) is organising its first Workshop + Debate entitled ‘An Essential Guide to Artificial Intelligence for Teachers’.

This event is part of LabDERE's Cycle of Workshops + Debates dedicated to the theme ‘Innovating for Learning’, and will be attended by guests Marta Pinto and Bárbara Cleto (AI goes to School).

Speakers

Marta Pinto, founder of AI Goes to School, was a teacher of Visual and Technological Education, a researcher in education, and a facilitator and manager of Development and Learning in the Information Technology sector. She has over 20 years of experience in education, exploring technology as a means of enriching teaching and learning processes. She has explored the design of online courses with a sensitive and critical approach that takes care of inclusion and a sense of belonging. She is currently focused on applying her knowledge of Artificial Intelligence to help teachers and schools integrate it, promoting critical reflection on the ethical issues associated with its use in the classroom. She has a Master's degree in Education and Child Studies, and a PhD in Multimedia in Education, both focussing on the use of digital technology in the classroom.

Bárbara Cleto, AI goes to School's partner teacher, has been teaching Computer Science and Electronics for almost 25 years, in secondary vocational education and higher education. She has an incessant curiosity and joy for the challenge of getting to know each student and providing them with engaging and personalised learning experiences. She has a Master's degree in Digital Games Development, a specialisation in Multimedia Communication and has completed a postgraduate course in Robotics and Emerging Technologies in Primary Education. She is currently completing a PhD in Multimedia in Education.
