On 7 February 2025, at 4 pm, a new session of the Open Lab Talks will take place at the CIIE. The session will be held in Room 120 of the CIIE, in the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. It will feature Jurema Gando, a student in the Doctoral Programme in Educational Sciences, who will present her work 'Continuing Teacher Training in Angola: Expectations and Reality of the Kwanza-Sul PAT" and Thiago Freires, a researcher at the CIIE, who will discuss the theme 'Internationalisation and Diversity in Initial Teacher Training: Agendas, Paths, and (Im)probable Futures". There will then be a discussion following the presentations.
Open Lab Talks is a cycle of weekly meetings held on Fridays, in which two PhD students and/or researchers from CIIE present a piece of work or research project, either in progress or recently completed, followed by a discussion with those present.
Applications are always welcome from researchers and/or students who would also like to present their work at future sessions. The schedule considers the registration order, which should be sent to ciie_secretariado@fpce.up.pt.

THIAGO FREIRES is a researcher at the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP). He holds a PhD (2019) and a Master’s (2011) in Education Sciences from the University of Porto and a Degree in Languages (Portuguese / English) (2009) from the University of São Paulo. In the last years, he has integrated several inter/national projects focused on the internationalization of teacher education, youth trajectories, citizenship education and technology-based innovation. At CIIE, he is one of the coordinators of the Community of Research Practices (CoPin) IDEAFor – Identities, Democracy, School, Administration and Training. He is also a member of JEDI – Young People, Education, Diversity and Innovation CoPin. He currently coordinates two projects: MIIT – Mapping Internationalisation conceptions and practices In Teacher education and the Erasmus+ Teacher Academy SmartStart. He has collaborated in advanced training in the area of Education Sciences in curricular units of research methodologies, scientific writing and themes related to public school, teaching work and justice in education.
JUREMA GANDO is a PhD student in the Doctoral Programme in Educational Sciences at the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), working on a paper entitled 'Policies and Programmes for the Continuous Training of Primary School Teachers: a look at practices in Kwanza-Sul'. She also holds a Master's degree in Education Sciences from the same faculty, where she defended a paper entitled: 'Continuous teacher training in the province of Kwanza-Sul: how the system works and aspects of teachers' personal, professional and social lives'. She has a degree in Pedagogy from the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Porto Amboim (ISUP) in Angola. Member of the practical research community (CoPin) - Labour, Education, Development and Social Movements (TEDeMoS). The Angolan Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas funds the training.
