I'd like to express two strong ideas about this book.
On the one hand, it is a text that aims to reach a diverse audience, including students, teachers, professionals from the most varied areas linked to social intervention and, above all, those who are curious about the world we live in, regardless of their area of training, work or study.
On the other hand, I think it's important to emphasise that this book was mostly written before the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to show how the relationship between families, schools and information and communication technologies (ICT) is complex, multidimensional and full of possible - and even probable - perverse effects. It is a structural situation through which social inequality and, therefore, social reproduction permeate. In this sense, the significant and recent visibility of the problems associated with emergency remote education caused by the pandemic can - and should, in my opinion, be placed within a broader perspective such as the one presented in this text.
