CIIE discusses the impact of artificial intelligence on higher education at Encontro Ciência 2025

CIIE was present at the Encontro Ciência 2025 [Science 2025 Meeting] (https://www.encontrociencia.pt) on July 11 at Nova SBE in Carcavelos, where it organised the Round Table ‘Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: continuity or disruption?’.

The session, moderated by José Carlos Bronze (research fellow at CIIE/FPCEUP and PDCE doctoral student), was led by Professor Angélica Monteiro (CIIE/FPCEUP), Professor António Pedro Costa (CIDTFF/UAveiro and LIACC/FEUP), Dr Celestino Magalhães (CIED/UMinho and INSIGHT/IPiaget), and Dr Alexandre Torres (CIED/UMinho and INSIGHT/IPiaget).

The debate focused on the role of Educational Sciences in the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education, and there was no shortage of reflections on ethics, critical thinking, humanisation and the transformative role of Education and its protagonists in the face of an emerging paradigm.
