About the author:
As a teacher, sociologist and researcher, the theme of the school-family-community relationship has been at the centre of his research activity, which has been translated into various individual and collective publications. Ethnography, intercultural education and mediation and ICT are other areas of interest. With a degree in Sociology (ISCTE, Lisbon), a Master's degree in Social Analysis of Education (Boston University), a PhD and an Aggregate Degree in Educational Sciences (FPCE, University of Porto), he is Principal Coordinating Professor at the School of Education and Social Sciences of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where, among other positions, he has been President of the Scientific Council and of the Assembly/Council of Representatives, as well as Course Coordinator and Coordinator of the Social Sciences Department. He is also a member of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE-University of Porto) and CICS.NOVA.IPLeiria, as well as a member of the Scientific Committee (Co-convenor) of Network 14 (Communities, Families and Schooling in Educational Research) of EERA (European Educational Research Association) and the Scientific Committee (Steering Committee) of ERNAPE (European Research Network About Parents in Education).
