ODEC | Training presentation and protocol signing

On 27 September, as part of the cooperation work that ODEC - Sports, Education and Communities Observatory has been doing with the International Centre for Sport Security Europe (ICSS EUROPE), the Portuguese partner of the ERASMUS+ project "CrosSports: Crossing Boundaries through Sport", two training courses were presented - "Autumn School: Refugees' inclusion through sport" and "Cycle of workshops: Agents of Change - Capacity building for refugees' inclusion through sport". The partners involved in this ERASMUS+ project are the International Olympic Truce Centre in Greece, the Fundación Sevilla FC in Spain and the Fondazione S.S. Lazio in Italy.

ODEC co-constructed these two training courses so that the project could begin to create the figure of "Community Leader for Inclusion through Sport (CLIS)" (training agents from local communities, namely teams from municipalities, sports clubs, among others, who can later collaborate in the social inclusion of refugees) and the creation of the figure of "Sport for Inclusion Activist" (to sensitise young refugees from different communities so that they can develop skills to act as agents of change and collaborate in the integration of other refugees).

The collaboration protocol between FPCEUP/CIIE and ICSS Europe was also formalised and signed on this day.

Present at this session from ICSS Europe were: Diogo Guia (Director, Sports Public Policy) and Michele Maxweel (Administration and Operations Support); Paolo Casilli (Senior Manager, Save the Dream Programmes and Head of the Portuguese CrosSports Team); João Pedro Jorge (ICSS Europe and Portuguese CrosSports Team). The President of the Portuguese Sports Confederation, Carlos Paula Cardoso, was also present. From FPCEUP/CIIE and ODEC were Pedro Nobre, Director of FPCEUP; Amélia Lopes, Vice-Director of CIIE; and Teresa Silva Dias, Marta Sampaio, Sofia Castanheira Pais and Carla Malafaia from ODEC Coordination.
