Study on Cybersecurity Education in Primary and Secondary Schools in Portugal

The report on the study carried out by FPCEUP's Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) for the Cybersecurity Observatory of the National Cybersecurity Centre (CNCS) on Cybersecurity Education in Primary and Secondary Education in Portugal is now available. Coordinated by Marta Sampaio and Pedro D. Ferreira, the team also included Amélia Veiga, Carla Figueiredo, Mariana Fonseca and Susana Pena.

The study maps cybersecurity initiatives, programmes and curricular content in Portuguese primary and secondary schools, comparing them with practices in other European Union countries. It includes an analysis of strategic documents and textbooks, as well as a survey of school groups and non-grouped schools at national level, to identify the initiatives developed and the frequency with which cybersecurity is addressed in the subjects, and interviews were also conducted with teachers and other actors. Finally, the study presents recommendations for the future.
