This project arises from the desire and needs to study Educational Sciences (ES) at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Porto (FPCE/UP) and to contextualise it about other higher education contexts in the same field, to contribute to the construction of visibility and the unity and identity of scientific knowledge in education. Thus, The aim is to analyse not only the effectiveness, but above all the meaning and forms of life produced in the degree.
In this sense, and due to the wide-ranging nature of the project, it was divided into three analytical dimensions, corresponding to three sub-groups: (A) Search for and professional integration of graduates in Education Sciences, (B) Students' daily lives in Education Sciences and (C) Scientific production in Education Sciences, each of which has a coordinator - Professors (A) Cristina Rocha, (B) José Alberto Correia and (C) Amélia Lopes, respectively.
(A) Based on the hypothesis that there is no stabilised profile or defined transition path to the labour market for EC graduates, the aim is to understand how demand is ‘shaped’ and the supply of this degree is projected. Therefore, it is considered essential to characterize the socio-professional background of graduates and their pathways into the workforce, as this helps us identify key traits and understand how they apply Continuing Education (CE) in the workplace.
(B) It is important to understand the various relational and experiential spaces that this degree's students mobilise according to their socio-professional characteristics, as well as how they construct and appropriate the specific language of CE. In essence, it is a question of analysing how students live in CE, the systems of interpersonal relationships and the ways in which they become ‘members’ of the university institution and this branch of knowledge.
(C) The aim is also to get to know the range of languages available to teachers and researchers by analysing the form (structure of texts), content (themes and methodologies) and dynamics (personal and group publications) of the scientific production developed at the FPCE-UP's ECs.
Methodologically, it is planned to use interview surveys and questionnaires (with the aim of characterising the graduates in their professional dimension or making it possible to map them in relation to teachers and members of the CIIE, in terms of their institutional collaborations, preferred areas of knowledge and influences), case studies, focusing on biographical journeys and content analysis of the scientific productions of teachers and researchers, placing them in the historical, methodological and epistemological contexts of their production.
