The document 'Agendas for youth and their communities: proposals from young people growing up in border regions' was produced as part of the GROW.UP project - Growing up in border regions in Portugal: Young people, educational paths and agendas (2018 - 2022 | PTDC/CED-EDG/29943/2017 / POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029943). This work aims to contribute to the debate on integrated public policies where aspects related to youth development and regional development converge. Based on a study carried out in the border regions of mainland Portugal, it favours an understanding of young people as promotors of change. It seems fundamental, especially in regions where opportunities are scarcer when compared to other contexts in the country, to anchor the potential that this population represents.
The document, whose organiser is the issue of youth and the role it can play in the development of its regions, is structured in the following parts:
- PART I - Youth and local development: literature and policies;
- PART II - Portrait of young people growing up in border regions;
- PART III - Young people and their regions: priorities and challenges;
- PART IV - Young people for the development of their communities: 9 proposals for 5 regions;
- Conclusions and Recommendations.
