CIIE participates in DGE's Recommendations for Promoting Digital Wellbeing in Schools

On 29 January, the Directorate-General for Education (DGE) released the Recommendations for Promoting Digital Wellbeing in Schools. The document, as well as the respective information sheets aimed at teachers, students, parents and school headmasters, were presented at the ‘Aprender Mais Agora’ Seminar held in Coimbra by the DGE.

The team responsible for the study includes FPCEUP professors and CIIE members Angélica Monteiro, Pedro D. Ferreira and Sofia Marques da Silva.

The Recommendations aim to ‘support School Groupings/Non-Grouped Schools (AE/Ena) in defining strategies to implement measures that help ensure that digital devices are used in a balanced way, improving the teaching and learning process and developing the areas of competence defined in the Profile of Students Leaving Compulsory Schooling. This document provides a brief survey of the opportunities and risks of digital use, as well as a set of recommendations for digital wellbeing in schools to be adopted and adapted according to the specificities of each educational context’ (Ministry of Education/DGE, 2025, p. 4).
