The Formar y Incluir (FYI) project aims to promote social and emotional learning that strengthens interpersonal and intercultural relationships within the school context (peer relations, relationships between pupils, and interactions with the wider educational community). The project seeks to address issues such as discrimination, intolerance, bullying and violence, recognising that these dynamics are often associated with mental health problems, self-harm behaviours, segregation, and school dropout or underachievement.

Specifically, the project will contribute to improving the well-being and the social and emotional learning of pupils in the 2nd and 3rd cycles at Escola Básica Augusto Gil, part of the Aurélia de Sousa School Cluster, fostering practices of citizenship and inclusion. The project also involves the entire educational community and families.

Activities: Development of storytelling initiatives and information, awareness-raising and capacity-building sessions in various areas (peer relationships, bullying, discrimination, among others) for the whole educational community. Sharing sessions on topics aligned with pupils’ needs, using digital stories created with and for the children and young people.

The project’s results, the storytelling videos and a manual compiling all systematised information will be made available, enabling the methodology to be extended to other educational communities across the country.
