The Education 2030 Framework for Action is clear about the need to address education in emergency situations. Firstly, it serves a protective role by providing knowledge and skills that can save lives, also equipping children, youth, and adults with competencies to prevent disasters, conflicts, and diseases, in addition to psychosocial support for those affected by crises. Therefore, countries need to establish measures to develop inclusive, responsive, and resilient education systems to meet the needs of children, youth, and adults in crisis contexts. Mozambique is one of the African countries most vulnerable to disasters such as droughts, floods, cyclones, epidemics, and minor earthquakes among the most frequent and recurring disasters. This project aims to continue and strengthen the investment of FPCEUP in knowledge about education cooperation, particularly in emergency cooperation. It follows a previous research project, co-financed by Camões IP, entitled "Educação em Situação de Emergência: Conhecimento endógeno e Redução do Risco de Desastre em Moçambique – um estudo de caso" (June 2020-October 2021). Overall objective: To analyse the role of international cooperation in the development and implementation of educational responses in emergencies in Mozambique; Specific objectives: Conduct a literature review on policies and practices of cooperation in Emergency situations (EeE); Identify the main actors/actions of cooperation in education, focusing on Education in Emergencies (EeE) and DRR in Mozambique; Contribute to the systematization of knowledge about policies and practices of international cooperation in the field of EeE, including projects of Portuguese cooperation; Analyse educational responses promoted by Portuguese cooperation; Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge in the Portuguese language in the field of EeE as a global common good.
