The organization of schools into clusters has been justified on the grounds of strengthening autonomy, breaking down isolation between schools, and implementing coordinated educational projects (PE) across different levels of education with community participation. In parallel with this measure, and influenced by the Lisbon Summit (2000) and the Technological Plan for Education (2007), Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have become a reference area in educational directives (European Commission, 2011; OECD 2015) and are now integrated into the daily activities of School Clusters (AE). Digital platforms (DP) such as email, Moodle, internet, among others, have become a resource for AE communication, but there is not yet informed knowledge about their usage, justifying the relevance of this project. The DigP-SEM aims to: 1) Identify and characterize the modes and purposes with which DP are used in AE; 2) Map the effects of DP that have been generated in the dynamics of AE functioning; 3) Produce and validate a procedural guide for the use of DP in AE. The project involves researchers from 6 higher education institutions (FPCEUP; UTAD; University of Coimbra; Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon; University of Évora; University of Algarve), with extensive and recognized research experience in the fields of school education, evaluation, research methodologies, and the use of DP. The goal is to produce a national-scale "radiograph" that supports recommendations on how DP can contribute to the improvement of educational management in AE with effects on curriculum sequencing and an educational project that embodies the principles of an "educational city" (Declaration of Barcelona, 1990) and inclusiveness.
